Studio designers rule the LSA catwalk!

So it was award night and the silver statuette was not the only figure shining bright! Pakistani fashion and showbiz celebrities were out in full force for the paparazzi at the Lux Style Awards.

LSA 2019 was a starry line-up of many of our most glamorous stars wearing striking ensembles from Studio by TCS’ finest Pakistani designers. Here’s our pick of those that rocked the red carpet...

Everyone’s new Baaji, Meera Jee was radiant in a glorious, Nida Azwer design with husband Captain Naveed on her arm. “I wanted Meera to go high fashion for LSA. Nothing filmi or flamboyant, but it had to be utterly fashionable and eye-catching because the red carpet is not for wallflowers and Meera certainly isn’t one,” says Fifi Haroon who was giving the brief on the presenters’ wardrobes to stylist Rao. “For me Nida Azwer was the perfect choice because everything she does is a fashion statement. Sophisticated but still glam.” Nida Azwer rose to the challenge dressing Meera in a grey organza blouse with leather and hand-worked embroidery coupled with a White net skirt with organza frill and layers. The result was pure Hollywood style glamour for the Lollywood diva.

Sana Javed (Romeo Weds Heer, Khaani) and best model winner for the third time, Sadaf Kanwal both opted for sleeker, silhouette defining looks from Sana & Safinaz. Sana reigned in purple satin for a knee length dress rather than the conventional ball-gown look Pakistani fashionistas seem to favour at award ceremonies. Sadaf was on the mark with floor-length fluorescent green with a stylish, detailed neckline.

Naveen Waqar (Tajdeed-e-Wafa, Humsafar) looked summery and cool in a delicate silver and pastel ensemble from Sania Maskatiya. Flowing chiffon was paired with cigarette pants for a look that was both practical and on trend.

Couple of the moment, Iqra Aziz (Suno Chanda, Ranjha Ranjha Kardi) and Yasser Hussain (The After Moon show) were the fashion rebels at LSA with coordinated matching suits from the maverick Ali Xeeshan, There was nothing conventional about this military inspired look in monochrome black and white embroidered with pearls and livened up with amulets. In Particular Iqra’s flowing cape with painted black swans was as dramatic as the proposal that followed!

It may be a little slow in transition to Pakistani fashion, but beige in every conceivable shade would almost seem like the logical successor to the chocolate tones we saw on Western catwalks through late 2018 to earlier this year. It is the colour every fashionista should be wearing this season.
