Aqeel Solangi, born in Ranipur, Sindh, is a multifaceted Pakistani visual artist whose works encompass a diverse array of media including painting, drawing, sculpture, collage, and digital collage, utilizing both his own photographs and appropriated imagery from various sources. Solangi graduated with honors from the National College of Arts in Lahore in 2003, later earning an MA in Visual Art in 2005 and an MA in Fine Art from Bath Spa University, UK, in 2016. His education was further enriched by a fellowship at the Prince’s School of Traditional Arts in London in 2006. Solangi's artistry reflects a deep engagement with themes of memory, time, and nature, often presented through a surrealist lens. His ability to blend various techniques and mediums allows him to create rich, complex narratives within his artworks. His professional career is highlighted by national and international exhibitions and a significant role in academia as an Assistant Professor at the National College of Arts in Rawalpindi. Living and working in Rawalpindi, Solangi continues to contribute to the arts not only through his teaching but also by hosting drawing and painting classes at Studio Aqeel Solangi. His works, which have been recognized and showcased around the world, reveal a profound connection to his cultural roots while simultaneously engaging with universal themes of existential reflection and the human condition.
